That must mean you don't have an inflamed uroepithelium, but referred pain from TPs, right?

If it was in fact an urethritis, the Pyridium should take away the feeling of irritation.

graeme wrote:My gp could never understand why I burn after urination about 30 seconds after but not during :?:

the burn can last over an hour before dying down a little back to my normal pain ache ,it also causes hot flushes and only calms with deep relaxing of the bladder :x

Also does anybody notice sleeping or lying on thee stomach worsens symptoms rather than lying on back :?:
I have had the exact some thing without a great explanation. My PT suggested sitting while urinating, to relax the floor, and sure enough.... it worked! But,... the affect only lasted a couple of weeks and it started to come back. Not as frequent, but it does.
Age, 38, unset Aug of 2008. Burning/pain post-urination at the tip. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. Have tried multiple antibiotics, prostate massage/drainage, Q-Urol, other natural products. Now, only practice mindfulness, acupuncture/cupping, and massage. As well, followed the MindBody Prescription and reprogramming the subconscious.

Does it also stain semen and precum? I really need it at the moment if it would work, but I'm anticipating getting into sexual situations at some point in the near future and would like to avoid horrifying my new girlfriend.

Burning after urination is my one main symptom. I can be pain free and go then burn all day. Since the course and stretching the anal sphincter and relaxing the pelvic floor when I urinate this has really improved. Sometimes when I had a BM I would be wiped out for the day with pain...but no pain before. I think the contraction of the muscles irritates the nerves and sets them firing so the key is to relax and lengthen the muscles that cause this..its just hard to find all of them.. but one month after the Wise course I am using less medication and sticking to the protocol carefully. Not tensing into the expectation of pain when you wee is important I think but it is easier said than done. Good luck
CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

Sheridan, Can you tell me exactly what you have done, had done or been told to do for this burning. Did you see a PT or are you stretching this area yourself? I recently started getting this all the time again and need to do something.
Thanks

I am female so it is a bit easier for me to feel how my pelvic floor relaxes. I did the Wise course in SF in Dec and they said for post bowel movement pain you gently stretch the sphincter muscle. This has helped. So stand at the loo put one foot up on the seat and with a gloved lubricated finger (middle as longest) insert very gently into the rectum and pull at 12 o'clock (backward as this is a main trigger area point for bowel movement pain 0, 3oclock and 9 oclock gently each time you go to the loo it slowly loosens the spot. I found the 12 o'clock was very tender to start but now is much better.

And find after urination if I gently relax the perineum, which I can feel easier than you from the vagina, the burn which I feel in the skin outside of my bladder eases. I feel I am getting some degree of control and not using Endone (Elavil) so much which is great. I lay in the bath and gently press the perineum down. I am not sure how a man would achieve this... Maybe it is the stretch they showed where you stand at the loo the same way with one foot on the loo and pull the buttock cheek out to stretch the perineum do it both sides after a bath... This doesn't happen straight away it takes a few weeks and you have to be patient and stick with it and hope it will help. It can't hurt. It would be helping your muscles to return to a more relaxed state like they used to be. So meditation is still very important where you achieve an alpha brain wave state.

Hi also to Richard. I said I wouldn't be looking at the site when I saw you last but I am into this massage stuff now and it is helping. I also have a great Scottish masseuse I was using who is returning home to Scotland... have to dig out her biz card and email you to see if she is close. She helped the hospital I went to with pelvic pain patients and was so good at doing my adductors and started to learn about trigger points. She is a special person and amazing.
