Kenn: I was on Neurontin for several years, and when I first started on it I was most focussed on the fact that it took the edge off my pain, but I seem to recall that I experienced one or two episodes of unreasonable anger. Since those early days I have not noticed any mood swings apart from an occasional depressive state for, say, a couple of weeks and I think that is likely, in any event, given the nature of the condition we are dealing with. In brief, I would say that mood swings are not a problem for me. If I was not on on a drug plan that covers most of the cost of Lyrica I would not be taking it.
Age: 71; age at onset: 65; symptoms: initially rectal spasms; currently anal pain, pereneal pain, buttock pain; all pain on the right side; early diagnosis: chronic non bacterial prostatitis; treatments 4 long courses of antibiotics, accupuncture, naturopathy; current treatments: gabapentin, terasozin, Celeza, PT.

Neurontin
I am going across country for the Christmas holidays. I am not on any pain medication at this time and am already getting uptight thinking about pain during the long plane ride and interfacing with relatives.
My wife has been taking neurontin for a couple of years for leg nerve damage and has negligible side effects.
Do you see this as an answer for me as a temporary relief for the chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome pain over the holidays. In the short time I have been experiencing pain I have not taken any pain medication.

Age 67. Had radiation and radium seed treatment for prostate cancer Jan-June, 2007. 4 months after the March 2007 seeding I was diagnosed with non-bacterial prostatitis. Has been very painful and only relief I get is drinking gallons of water. Problem is I need to stay close to bathroom. Got on-line with the forum on Nov 7, 2007. Taking Flomax and saw palmetto supplement for a couple of months but no relief yet. Just ordered book A Headache in the Pelvis. Living in an RV in Yuma,AZ until May 2008 and then will move north to Wyo. and Colo.
