Hi all. Stretches are recommended for CPPS, in order to relax the pelvic floor muscles and the surrounding ones. I believe though that in my case (and maybe others) pelvic pain is a result of muscle imbalances. My issues started with lower back pain and (I believe) faulty walking and exercise mechanics. So I don’t think stretching alone will help. In fact I’ve read that passive stretching weakens muscles (I can search for a reference if anyone asks). What I might need is gentle strengthening of the core, without tensing my pelvic floor too much. Ie, “showing my pelvic floor that I don’t need its help”.
But on the other hand, exercise gives me flares. Just a few days ago I did some light exercise and started having tension in my anus. In a few days it turned into pain. So my question is: when to start with exercises? How to know I am ready, how often to do it and how intense? Does anyone have experience? Thanks.

Re: When to add strengthening to stretches
Forgot to add: I usually get worse if I use my abs too much. That activates my pelvic floor in most cases. Last time I felt something in my anus working (wtf) during a light version of a leg raise / dead bug.
