Re: Have anyone tried Antrolin and Topster against Muscle spasm?
I've tried Beclomethasone Dipropionate suppositories (Topster in Europe) that I had to have made thru a local compounding pharmacy. They do help me, but my current Urologist who recommended them says he knows nothing about what their long term effect may be. So he will not just write a prescription any time I want one. I thought I read a thread somewhere here awhile back, before I joined this forum, that Webslave didn't like the idea of using steroids. I can't seem to find that specific thread where it was mentioned. [admin comment: basically, that's because of limited and temporary success, and considerable side effects.] I honestly don't know whether the choice to use them will come back to haunt me, but I was pretty desperate at the point where I was given them to try. I would be willing to hear more about why it's a bad idea. I'm always open to opinions.
My current Urologist gave them to me on my first visit, and he's a younger guy, who actually believes chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is real and not in mens' heads. I think he is very sincere, and wants to learn more to help people like us. He's been quite honest with me that it's an uphill battle. He's even taken on my insurance company who no longer wants to pay for Pelvic Floor PT. BCBS's hired gun (Dr.) told my Dr. that women only have the problem. He told them they were crazy, and that he has male patients that indeed do have the problem.

Age: 52 | Onset Age:49 (but I may have had warning signs 25 yrs earlier)| Symptoms: Pretty much all the usual suspects. Frequency, urgency, inability to always empty, burning and numbing uretheral, penile & perineum pain. Frequent urination at night.| Helped By: Internal PT. Myrbetriq helps but is by no means great. TENS to help sleep, and hand held massages of the lower back, hips and buttocks. Standing and physical labor help. Stretches and hot baths. Occasionally use gel iced pad on the perineum. Worsened By: Sitting (being sedentary), driving, sex, bowel movements, tight clothing and underwear. | Other comments: Currently trying L-Theanine

Is it possible to point me in the direction of those side effects? Perhaps I have missed them. I don't recall seeing them from the study on them. I would truly like to know what those side effects were/are if possible. Thanks! I think I have had decent luck with them, although it isn't a cure. But if the side effects are serious, I am not aware of that. I have tried to get that information.

Re: Have anyone tried Antrolin and Topster against Muscle spasm?
I understand the usual side effects associated with steroids. Generally I am not a fan of steroids in any form. I have even rejected having steroidal injections in certain injured joints. I figured if I'm limited to the amount of these suppositories anyway, what harm would there be in trying them? In my mind, I rationalized it to myself, when I realized I used Beclomethasone for sinus issues in the mid to late 80's. I just convinced myself that it didn't give me a problem then, so how harmful could it be? That's desperation talking. I'm sincere when I say they help, but I'm still learning things about what I should and probably shouldn't be doing to help myself. I only wish I didn't wait so long to join this forum. I hope to learn something from you and others in this group. I want my life back. My life consists of waking up, going to work and coming back home. There is very little else I do, besides Dr. appointments and the usual stuff I try and do to help myself. I fear doing much more because I never know when it's going to go from bad to worse. I know what I am saying is stereotypical of so many people suffering from this, so I know I'm not alone. I'm just tired of just sitting back and taking it. It is unacceptable to me that I have to stay this way forever. The question is, what is it that I have to do to better myself? Because I know everybody is different. My head is still spinning where I should start. I've had more failures than successes so far. I do appreciate what you are doing here - for the record. Thanks!

Sure, try them, as long as you accept the short term effect (if any)

Quite honestly, I only use them for a major flareup to calm it down. But the problem always comes back. My goal is to figure this all out and fix myself without the use of any pharmaceuticals. I know it's only a short fix that I don't want to rely on forever. That's why I'm here.
