Hey Carl nice to hear from you too! :)

I agree - there's no point in waiting for perfection when there's a life to be had!

Playing a friends birthday party in a few weeks - it's all old punk stuff so it'll be a blast!

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Good news sleeper I was in a dark place at a similar time to you and have found you good and supportive thanks, I still have mild flare but am also a million times better than 2 years back, time is a great healer !!
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me

Not been here for a while...

Post by Sleeper Service »

So, a quick update:

About 90-95% the vast majority of the time with no impact on my life really at all. Remaining symptoms are I pee every two to three hours (but then I drink a lot of water) during the day and maybe once at night, have a slight irritation sometimes (akin to wearing a piercing) at the glans tip and very occasionally a bit of supra-pubic irritation.

And that's it.

I'm also down to 210 pounds, most of it muscle with perhaps another 10 pounds of fat to lose (hence the water drinking and consequent peeing I suppose). Life is good.

Things do get better it seems if you find something that works for you.

Annual check in...

Post by Sleeper Service »

Hi all,

Short summary - developed pelvic pain and a constant desire to urinate back in February 2006. Went through a battery of antibiotics with no effect, PT with some help and finally a bladder neck incision which restored urine flow in April or May 2007 (I forget when) followed by a year or so's recovery with relaxation and stretching.

I still feel pretty good. I'm probably 95% most of the time with the only sensation being a slight 'presence' in my glans as if I were wearing a Prince Albert. Don't really notice this though. Every now and again I'll get a flare which consists of some minor discomfort and a need to pee every hour during the day. These usually coincide and go away with the flu and colds.

I cycle, lift decent weights (including squats which really stretch things out) and deadlifts and play social rugby.

If anything, while this condition is horrible, coming out of gave me a better perspective on life. I got fit and now look about 8-10 years younger than I am and get more attention from the ladies than I ever have (but don't act on it - I'm happily married!). Life is good. It will be for you too.

Just Checking In...

Post by Sleeper Service »

Hi guys,

Just a six monthly check in. I'll not bore you with details - you can check my posts if you want my history - things are pretty much the same; generally pretty good with the odd flare that coincides with colds and lasts about a week.

Treatment for me was multi-modal. Don't give up hope - you can and will get better.

Cheers and merry Xmas all!

Old hand checking in...

Post by Sleeper Service »

Hi guys,

Just the usual yearly check in. Things remain pretty much the same - 95% or better most of the time with the odd flare, usually when I get a bad cold for some reason. Just coming out of one that's been on the go for a week or two now - a bit of suprabubic and urethral itchiness and the need to pee every hour or so. No biggie.

Relaxation, stretching, weightlifting, and not worrying about it all help for me. It does get better and certainly manageable, you just have to find out what works for you.
