Yes, however, you will never find someone with your exact symptoms. I sometimes get flashes of burning in the urethra, that last for an hour or two, then revert back to the normal irritation.

If the burst of pain is more than usual, I will take a benzo and the pain will deteriorate quickly. I think the mind plays into this because, its only natural to get frustrated and upset you are getting a flare which in turn makes it last longer.

Chlorine

Post by robertpagen »

WS Chlorine
what is the issue with Chlorine? I was a competition swimmer twenty years ago when the pools were so heavily chlorinated that they stank of Chlorine. That combined with stunning cold water seems to have had a hand in developing pelvic Dysfunction symptoms.

Thanks Webslave,

I am going to investigate this further. I feel like I have post traumatic stress disorder thing going on. The sooner I deal with these issues the better, so that they they don't get more out of hand. I think the real internal work is not in my butt but in my head now:P

Robert, chlorine is implicated in allergies and asthma, and at least one person we know of developed BPS/IC after a heavy chlorine exposure. As I said, search the forum if you are interested.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give you an update on my condition. I know I haven't been on for a long time but it was for a reason. I couldn't bear to read another case. Also, I was hesitant to come back on here to discuss my story in fear of bad luck but I felt I needed to do so, so that others could hear it and keep positive.

Anyhow, if you read my thread you would know I was a mess. Breaking up with my gf was hard on me and never before had a girl taken the rug from underneath my feet. I still don't know why I had tested positive for a UTI with no bacterial infection but I did. I can only guess it was stress related. As you know, I had every symptom under the sun and no word of a lie, spent nights crying in pain wishing that I no longer was here. Never in my life did I think of not living but when your urethra is on fire you think that the world is going to end. Even writing this brings back haunting memories.

I've read all the books, physio, did all the meditating, changed my diet, you name it, I did it. Only problem was every time I read something or did something, I would mirror symptoms and things would get worse or feel better for a short period of time. Like a placebo.

I decided to speak to my doc and he put me on Prozac (generic stuff), started at 20 then gradually went up to 40 and I started CBT and stopped reading the web for any condition.

First thing my therapist told me was that I would have to do is start living again. I have an all of nothing personality. So if I do something I do it to the max or like in this condition do nothing cause I was a scared little boy in pain. He told me I would have to keep busy with 2 time consuming things a day. So I did, about three weeks into it, I was so tired. My therapist told I need to chill because I was doing the all or nothing again. Eventually, I found a balance and within a few weeks my symptoms started lessen. Now I don’t know if it was therapy or the pills but whatever it was I felt much better. Also I started dating a new girl. 20 years old, I am 33. This helped but when it came to sex, the first 2 weeks, I could not get a hard on. Having so many penis issues in the last 7 months, this was a new one and drove me nuts. The blue pill fixed that pretty quickly. 4 times using Viagra, and I got my confidence back.

Anyway, just want to let you know I am no longer on any meds or blue pills and 97% pain free for a solid 3 to 4 months. The only time I have sensations is when I think about it (like now). Also, I gained most my weight back, I am 151lbs (dropped to 136) and almost back in great shape. I just don’t take life as seriously anymore. If things go back to being bad again, at least I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I can work through it. Also, I’d like to thank you guys for all your help.

Lastly, for all you newbies, stay strong, keep busy and if you have an all or nothing personality like me, try not to read the web and do too much at once. I spent over 5 grand on pills herbal stuff, books, and physio. Find a balance in your life. Don’t make this condition control you and work through the pain. It will go away when you are ready for it to.

hey guys,

I don't know what compelled me to the board but I felt I needed to check it. It's been a long time. I read some of the "newbies" posts and some very dark memories of mine have come back. What a mess I was! I think what triggered this for me was a huge amount of stress. Something back in the day was telling me I needed to make changes in my life. The path I was on caught up to me and effected my penis. Was the biggest punch to the groin ever. And when I think back to it, which wasn't that long ago I can honestly say I am a happier person now.

To be honest, financially I am in the worst shape I have been in 6 years but I don't care! I have money saved and I am able to get by. Don't get me wrong, I still freak out, get mad and worked up but just not like before. Whatever crap is thrown my way I know I will figure it out.

For me no meds, pills or PT helped. I thought they did but in the end, it was CBT! I did it for a good 15 plus sessions. It really gave me the tools to function properly. I know I will always have more anxiety than the average guy but I can control it now.

I do get little reminders here and there. But they last a few minutes. I would say my life for the first time ever is somewhat normal.

So my advice to all new people suffering would be to really do some soul searching and see what is really bothering you. It could be family, job, insecurities, being alone whatever. And maybe if you work on that, the pain and symptoms will slowly go away. Also, most of all be active. I know it is hard. But just get out and do things and get your mind off this beast.

I wish you all the best and know you will all get over it.

d_man,

Good to get an update. I'm presuming the CBT is for cognitive behavioral therapy? I would have to strongly agree with you. The mental component must never be over looked on the road to recovery...

Best :-D

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Chilly yes from Montreal. And yes I mean cognitive behavioral therapy. BTW, Carl Thanks for your help. I was in a really dark place back then and your tips and patience with everyone was reassuring.

In fact we don't support any type of massaging of the prostate...
Ok recently I have been doing internal work like 2-3 times a week. Before this I didn't ever really do much of it consistently, and I am fairly sure now that my most serious trigger points are directly on my prostate (although I guess this is not technically possible?). It is a band maybe 1 inch in length that is supersensitive but not really too painful, just a bit. When I contact it, it recreates one of my main symptoms (PC muscle spasm, when this happens it is strong and forceful and I can see my penis move).

Recently the trigger point band area is less sensitive from me doing internal work. I see this as a very good thing, and after doing internal work when I urinate I really notice a difference for about a day or so, and it feels wonderful to be relaxed down there again, its really nice to have much less of spasming going on in that area. However today I masturbated and semen just trickled out, It has been over a week since I masturbated and this is certainly not normal for me, if I wait a week it shoots like a fountain.

I am wondering maybe contacting my prostate can have some negative effects? I read this thread and there seems to be some disagreement. Note that I do not vigorously massage the prostate, I just apply moderate pressure the same way I treat other trigger points internally with my crystal wand. Any suggestions? Ideas? thanks
