Wonderful free meditation

Post by Sherradin »

A few of the people I went to the Wise course with have struggled with the relaxation tapes. They are great but very slow so that when you are new to meditation and in pain its easy to get distracted or fall asleep.

I found this great track on iTunes but here is a link to it on the net as well. It is by Gerald Grow a US Professor who I contacted who told me this:
One image I have found valuable in life is this: Some problems never go away; they may never change; they may never even grow smaller.
However, as we live, the landscape of our lives grows to be very wide and deep, and it contains more and more valuable experiences. The problem may not get smaller in an absolute sense, but it gets smaller and smaller in proportion to the other things in life, until it is like a murky little pit on a very wide landscape that also contains high mountains, vast plains, rich forests, and high waterfalls. By cultivating that rich landscape, we can include and honor the problem, but without falling into it as if its little pit were the only reality.
He is another deep, caring man like Dr David Wise.

Here is the link to the free relaxation tape. It is a progressive body relaxation like Jon Kabbit Zinn uses but it has a great pace and is not to long. It always gets me to the alpha brain wave state.

I hope you have iTunes as it is linked to that

CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

Thank you too!!

I have found this site, which if you scroll down a bit, provides a few meditations around the 15 minute mark. All free of course.

I wouldn't get too put off by the fact that it is a Buddhist website for those not into that, it does not feature in the actual meditations.
Age:24 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms: Urgency and penile tip pain. Frequency at it worst. Reduced libido and functioning. | Helped By: Prostate massage. That's about it so far. Haven't thoroughly tried PT yet however. | Worsened By: Sitting. Perhaps stress and negative thoughts. Chiro, candida detox and standard treatments have not helped.

Thanks Cam its a great site. I have downloaded some to my iPod to try out. The Buddhist thing is a positive for me I would love to have more of their attitudes.
