I'm Back....wish I wasn't....

Post by blacklaw »

Hey guys,

After a few years of feeling better, looks like I am back. I just got finished with a very bad bout of food poisoning. Stopped my Saw Palmeto and Quercetin regiment while I was sick (total of three weeks). This week, last Sunday to be precise, I developed a sharp pain in my stomach. Convinced myself I had an appendicitis, ran to the doctor, he said I ate too many bananas and bound myself up and it would pass. As the week went on, the pain migrated to my back, stomach and today has settled a few inches under the right side of my belly button and the pain now extends from that point down the right side of my groin to the tip of the penis. Of course the corresponding back pain has also begun. After an hour of convincing myself that this was not an appendicitis (doubt I would have a one week long attack). It dawned on me that I was probably having a flare-up. Looks like it has returned.
Age:40 | Onset Age: 30 | Symptoms: Occasional Penis Pain, urge to urinate, thigh pain, lower back pain, occasional golf ball feeling, muscle spasms. | Helped By: Relaxation, Deep Meditation, Soft Cushions, Quercetin, Saw Palmetto, exercise. | Worsened By: Increased sexual activity, stress, allergic response.

I think you could see Marilyn Freedman in NY.

Hi Blacklaw,

I'm sorry to hear that you've suffered a setback. We've talked a few times over instant messaging, and I always found you to be a great source of support during difficult times. Hopefully, I can return the favor until you're back on your feet, which you will be!

I have every confidence that your past experiences will carry you through, as will the outlook you've previously shared with me. Consider Webslave's advice about seeing Freedman. By most accounts, she is very good.

Highly recommend you get a Theracane and start doing external triggerpoint work - especially the abs. The importance of external work has been the biggest thing I took away from the Anderson/Wise clinic I went to in December. Doing thorough external work everynight has made a very significant difference to my symptoms.
Not medical advice: Read my progress to date : Read about my W-A clinic visit

Age: 54 CPPS: 20 Yrs Recovery Status: 95% Symptoms: Pain around perineum Makes Worse: Tension, sitting Makes Better: Stretching, triggerpoint therapy, relaxation

Hey that is so good to hear Richard..I am having the same experience. Sorry I havent sent you that number yet but I know she is still travelling. I have also found someone in Sydney who has helped me so much as well all the external work I have doing.. It was all in the abs..and butt.

I have had my best week for three years..I know it will wax and wane but its moving in the right dierction. I gave a talk to the Prof at the Womens Hospital in Sydney yesterday and they are thinking of doing a clinic providing multi skilled help for pelvic pain people.

V Happy for you
CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

Thanks Sheridan and Alan

I'm still pretty useless at getting enough relaxation in - but the stretching and external work every night has, I'd say, reduced the dysfunctional in my perineum by around 50%.
