6 months to have a Revelation- Ab and Inner Thigh Trig. Pts

Post by atma »

Hey all,

Like most I spent my early days once I figured out what I had reading A Headache in the Pelvis, Trigger Point Manual by Davies, Travell & Simmons "novels", and this forum. I dabbled with massage therapists and chiropractors. I bought myself a Theracane and eventually found a PT in my area. After 6 months I think I came to a realization and need clarification or maybe confirmation.

After all the drugs and shots wore off, I think my urinary and bowel symptoms are gone(I think the injections and drugs caused most of those issues for me). The only remaining symptoms are thigh/hamstring and abdominal pain. The typical burning, pinching needle feeling pain. My initial pain back in Jan of 08 started here and continues to be here, albeit maybe to a lesser degree.

I spent months trying to use the Theracane and the "wand" to rid myself of trigger points (I started performing relaxation techniques back in October, too). I tried to follow the PT but I never received any long term relief from her.

And then.... A REVELATION. While on a trip home, I brought my friend "Phenibut", a very comforting supplement that Scoobysnacks lead me to find, home with me. I realize after taking the supplement (along with my Rx for Baclofen), that when I was skin rolling my thighs, hamstrings and abdomen, I had no releases. And I also had no pain. In the past I would use the Theracane to "try" and relieve the trigger points. That was basically just pushing the cane into each muscle with no success.

After the magic dust wore off, or any other points in the day, I could skin roll and feel this "popping" sound. It was more like squeezing a pea or popping a weak piece of bubble wrap. In the abdominal area, I would need to skin roll and do a 3 finger massage into the muscle and feel the "popping". I am not sure I am describing it well. But I realized that my pain was a little less after that.

However, I would have to do this 5-6 times a day. I have trouble correlating these "popping" to the traditional trigger point discussions I hear on the board. I feel other muscles and do not get that popping sound so there must be come correlation to the pain and the popping sound.

Is it possible that all my pain is superficial, (by that I mean shallow between the skin and the fascia?????) It is almost like the muscle is only minimally involved.

This has perplexed me for the past week or so and figured I would ask for input......

Thanks,
ATMA

Strange that no one has replied. Skin rolling has helped for me, it is particularly painful to do in areas that where I already have pain.

I don't experience any 'popping' as such, there doesn't appear to be a huge amount of info out there on this technique either unfortunately.
Age:24 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms: Urgency and penile tip pain. Frequency at it worst. Reduced libido and functioning. | Helped By: Prostate massage. That's about it so far. Haven't thoroughly tried PT yet however. | Worsened By: Sitting. Perhaps stress and negative thoughts. Chiro, candida detox and standard treatments have not helped.

Fixing the lower abs is key. Also when I stretch at work I always make sure to kill my upper legs. It works well.

What do you mean by "kill" your upper legs, and what kinds of abdominal work do you do?

By kill I mean stretch hardcore and dig into the muscles. Also for my lower abs I stretch in my chair elongating my body and moving my back towards ground over back of chair and breathing out. I can just feel those muscles stretching like an e string on guitar.
