The IC one's a funny one as it's usually diagnosed by hydrodistension or potassium sensitivity if a test is used at all. A lot of modern Uros tend to use a diagnosis of exclusion these days though.
That said, it's an usual observation given the lack of testing although, in fairness, it doesn't really matter. Just keep working away at what works for you and improvements will come.

For the advice, I'm not sure this URO got it right or not, since the two major symptoms of IC are frequency and urgency which I no longer have nor do I have and bladder pain under the navel which is characteristic in most male cases, nor do I have IBS or any of the other related problems. I do have a sore and sometimes burning golf ball feeling while sitting and occasional burning urine.
Started: 15 Aug 07 "Birthday present" Onset extremely swollen prostrate problems following a sinus infection, which developed into burning urine- 50% better, relaxing, diet. Pain after ejaculation. Worsen by:stress, beer.
That sounds right. If you don't have any positive tests (hydrodistension/PST), and you don't have frequency/urgency/burning on urination, it sounds more like chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome than IC.MikeinCA wrote:Sleeper Service wrote:The IC one's a funny one as it's usually diagnosed by hydrodistension or potassium sensitivity if a test is used at all. Earlier I posted a URO proclaimed I had IC-I went to that guy today and asked him how come he gave me the diagnosis IC-He said because I have burning urine-well I said it went away. So after some discussion-I said what is bothering me right now? He did a DRE as if he was trying to cause me pain-Then says your prostrate. I'm still in pain. He then hurried to the front desk to make sure I paid my co payment before I left. GOD HELP US ALL

Re: IC or CPPS
I went to this doctor during the 3d week of getting the problem. I went back yesterday and asked him how he diagnosed me-he handed me a questionnaire that I filled out "you add up the numbers from it" It was from a drug company. I was shocked. I looked at it again "armed with reading glasses this time" most of the questions related to woman-I just wanted to know what is inflamed. I started to fill it out again-totally different responses this time “he was very irritated”. During previous DRE it was clearly my prostrate-so this guy did one-So what is causing my sensations? "Your prostrate" ok that's all I wanted to know. He added prostatitis to my records. I may have a form of IC, but it isn't causing me my sitting pain. I do have more frequency, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Thanks for your advice.
