I decided to try this chair from Korea, called the Hara chair. The concept of the chair is highlighted on their website:
http://www.harachair.co.kr/english/index/logic/
If you look at the animation you'll understand why it's good. When sitting on a normal chair, I would be in pain after 15 min, but with this chair, I can sit for hours without feeling any pain!!
That was 3 weeks ago..so I went through a full 3 weeks with nearly no pain sitting. I was in heaven. Then I thought maybe the problem I have originated from pelvic bone displacement compressing a muscle or nerve. So I went to see a chiropractor and he showed me how to stretch those bones and put them back into place:
Basically you spread your legs apart with your feet pointing in front of you and you squat slowly lower and lower. Then you would place your left hand's palm on your thigh and push away pressing your leg while turning your torso in the right direction. (you just do the samething after with your other leg and hand).
He also taught me a version of the pigeon pose in which you actually stay up and bend your knee at a 90degrees angle and stretch your other leg as far as you can. After that, the only thing you do is to drop your body down while looking where your bent leg is pointing.
The combination of the hara chair and those 2 stretching techniques has make me now 99% pain free! No more pain in the tip of my penis, no more painful ejaculation and no pain in the groin and the buttock. I noticed also that my urine flow has returned to normal.
I am so happy to have finally found out something that works this well.
Go try those stretches first and see what it does for you. The chair was about 400$ but they have cheaper models for 150$ without armrest.
good luck!

No more pain with Hara chair and sumo-like stretching
No more pain with Hara chair and sumo-like stretching
Age: 37 | Onset Age: 37 | Symptoms: variable but include: frequency to urinate, discomfort in tip of penis (including occasional tingling), pelvic pain, pain in left inner leg/left testis, heat and sweat between legs | Helped By: Q-Urol or Prosta-Q, taurine, hot bath, not sitting long hours, red wine (high in Quercetin I think, which reduces voiding a lot), stretching legs, pidgeon pause | Worsened By: sitting long hours, sitting in car .
Now I am cured!! Search for my posts on Harachair and squatting. I believe the symptoms are all caused by a misalignment of the pelvic bones that strains the muscles.

Yes! I've been doing something similar, going into the deep squat and then pushing outward with both elbows inside my thighs. I think it's called the "prayer squat" in weight-lifting circles, because you have your hands together as if praying.Caretaker wrote:Basically you spread your legs apart with your feet pointing in front of you and you squat slowly lower and lower. It's impossible to say which of these things are really working in a non-controlled situation, but I certainly haven't experienced any ill effects, and introducing this stretch has coincided with a general improvement.
Age: 38; Onset: 38; | Symptoms: the famous "golf ball" sensation, irrational feel of needing to urinate, feeling of "fatigue" in pelvic floor, general lack of energy... all symptoms fairly mild and isolated; | Helped By: relaxation, stretching exercises, (possibly) alcohol, hot baths, sleep; | Worsened By: over-exertion (suddenly running without warming up), possibly excessive sedentary work

I was wondering the same thing about the UK/Europe. Caretaker - did you order direct from Korea?

Hara Chair
There is a company on ebay that sells this chair. Search Hara Chair and you'll find it.
Age:36 | Onset Age:34 | Symptoms: back pain, left testicle pain, penis pain (mainly left side), burning when urinating, IBS, burning in upper legs, sore muscles in upper legs. | Helped By: Hot baths, valium, red wine, vodka | Worsened By: Sitting for long periods, stress, thinking too much about it.
I bought mine in Japan where I live (one for home and for work). The store said they just started to sell this chair. If you look on the Korean site, it was launched in 2004 in Korea.

Thanks chaps... this looks interesting.
The prices aren't bad, really... there seems to be a mid-range model for about 30000 yen (about 250 USD?) which is pretty much what my generic (and falling-apart) Ikea office chair would cost if they still made it. Another highly recommended alternative I've seen is the Swedish company Håg, and they're a *lot* more spendy.

Yes, I'm really interested in this as well. I've contacted the US based ebay seller to see what delivery to the UK will be.

The poor man's version: ErgoKneel HandyMat Kneeling Mat/Pad
For me, two of these kneeling pads (arranged side by side just like the chair pads) is the only way I can sit at all. I spent 2 hours today in my Honda Accord with 2 pads, and I'm OK. If I did the same in my wife's Suburu, I'd hurt. It must be the angle of the car's seat. I need to recreate that exact angle in the house somewhere.
