This is my main trouble spot for me and I know this muscle is the key clenching muscle. I know this muscle in my case to be the one that spasms and is fatigued or worn out. I don't want to do kegal excersises for sure.
How can we stretch that muscle out?
Can we reach it with internal work?
I have to now limit my ejaculations so this can really heal....Any thoughts?

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Carl,
I'm in the same boat. Here is a simple quote I found on the internet.
I also found where they said you can contract this muscle by pulling in with the stomach--the same thing I did for about five years. I think I was walking around with this muscle tightended day in day out.
I guess this is no real secret, I just didn't know the exact muscle causing me problems.
Also, it makes sense that the first time I was taught kegels they worked--peed normal no problems. I know kegels are not recommended, but I also wonder why after an orgasm I pee normal? My answer, because that muscle just worked hard and relaxes for a bit, but then returns to its tightended state.
If I learned to voluntarily control this muscle I think Id be better.
I'm going to do some more research specifically on this area.
Regards,
SS

I've always said I get this contraction upon trying to pee while tryint to let the pelvic floor fall. Its almost as if my PC muscle is in a constant state of contraction-ie-pelvic floor lifted up.It controls urine flow and contracts during orgasm. It aids in urinary control, and childbirth.

Age:29 | Onset Age: 25.5 | Symptoms: Initially burning in prostate/perineum, burning in urethra, uncontrollable muscle contraction before urinating, dual ache in groin, left testicle pain, feeling of golf ball in rectum, soarness in rectum, and muscle spasms, now mainly very mild urinary tract inflammation, burning mildly after ejaculation, some days after physical activity involuntary mild muscle contraction before urinating | Helped By: .5 mg of Ativan, Aleve (naproxen), quercetin, alcohol in large quantities (vodka and soda), stretching, walking, internal massage the perineum area and levators. | Worsened By: sitting, weightraining, jogging, coffee, caffeine in general, alcohol bothered me at first, overdoing sex
I agree,
I think since I joined this site You and I have spoken many times about our symptoms, I think we have the exact same muscle dysfunction which I think is the PC muscle. The result is irritation and inflammation.
So I think I need to also research how to to get to this muscle and heal it. I'm trying to figure out how many times a week to have sex which is hard for me to deal with because I want to do it every fu**ing day. So 1 to 2 times a week should do it with out straining that muscle.
So what I'm thinking is this muscle is injured, so I need to rehap it through rest not kegals because it needs to heal and be stretched and rested. It feels worn out to me. But how do I do this??? That's the secret to my success to overcome this condition.

1-2 times per week is about what I shoot for, no pun intended. If more, I figure it out.
I dont think its damaged, in my case its just overly tightented, probably in your case too. Maybe thats what you mean. My point with kegels is this, if orgasm causes mine to loosen and allow me to pee normal for a day or so, then wouldnt kegels mimic that orgasm and allow it to relax and possible give me voluntary control over it? Just thinking out loud here, with the caveat that I know they arent recommended for most chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferes, and I by no means am advocating others go against that advice in AHIP.
I can sometimes stretch it out by simply grabbing my butt cheek on each side and pulling outward, this helps the muscles around the rectum loosen, which make up the PC muscle as it slings back to the coccyx. Try it. Then do some deep breathing.

I agree, I don't think my PC is damaged just fatigued because now that I'm aware of it, I have used that muscle to clench. I still have to fight that urge to clench the PC muscle ( like when I see a hot chick walking by me at the studio I work at and believe me, there are lots!!
) in my daily activities. So over time I think it's caused this condition.
I do the pull the but cheeks apart to stretch as well...

I'm sure you've tried the squat: doesn't that help?
Age: 71; age at onset: 65; symptoms: initially rectal spasms; currently anal pain, pereneal pain, buttock pain; all pain on the right side; early diagnosis: chronic non bacterial prostatitis; treatments 4 long courses of antibiotics, accupuncture, naturopathy; current treatments: gabapentin, terasozin, Celeza, PT.
One thing to consider: your transverse abdominals might be weak and this is contributing to the levator tension. If you lookup the transverse abs on the Net, they are described as assisting the pelvic floor muscles (such as the levator ani). If they're weak, or you have poor neural control of them (very common) then this could add to things. These are not the rectus abs that give you the six-pack abs - they wrap around your abdominal area like a girdle.
I posted in another thread about exercises for these. Interestingly, when I contract the transverse abs, even aggressively, I can still relax the pelvic floor. It feels a bit weird, but lends to the notion of these 2 working together. I've had 2 different pelvic floor PTs tell me to work on these muscles with those exercises.
Here's a real simple test to see whether they're weak: if you have a sit-ball (say, a 65mm variety), sit on it. Then lift one leg off the floor with arms on your lap. See if you can hold it without wobbling. If so, good, then lay on the floor with your feet on the ball (bridge position). Lift your buttocks off the floor to complete the bridge. If you can't or you fall over, then the transverse abs are weak, or you have poor neural control of them. Either way, it's a sign that this is likely adding to the problem.
