Pain and 'heat'

Post by chewymix »

When my pain is at its worst I oftem feel that the painful areas are hotter than the rest of my body, mainly lower abdomen and upper backs of thighs etc.

Has anyone else noticed this and know a good treatment for it - I presume that its inflammation that causes the heat??

thanks

Diseased nerves can create a sensation of heat. Google "paresthesia".

thanks for the reply - when you say sensation of heat do you mean that it is not really hotter than the surrounding areas but simply feels hotter to me?

I don't actually think it is that as it is not there all the time but just when I'm feeling more pain - I think perhaps the constant contraction of muscle(s) is generating the heat as they burn up energy.... not really sure but I'll keep stretching and perhaps also look at the potential dietry contributors to pain/inflammation - Are there any good 'tests' out there for intolerances?

Yes I've noticed this heat, mainly in the abdomen when in pain. I do get a lot of pain in the legs but have never noticed they were also hot to the touch.

A couple of years ago I was so anxiety riddled, the pain and heat used to extend right up to my chest and my whole torso would feel like it was burning up.

I had always put this down to increased blood flow in the area, but no scientific basis behind this and I never tried to specifically treat it.
My 2 cents would be that this is something that you could work on alleviating through meditation/relaxation to calm whatever your central nervous system is up to in that area.
