Does PT help frequent urination?!?

Post by BG0013 »

Hey everybody. I see a lot of posts where a lot of people's symptoms are helped by PT, except frequent urination. That is my main symptom. I'm wondering if PT is going to help that?
Age 21.. | Symptoms: Extreme discomfort in bladder, and lower abdomen.. To the point that I can't sit still, and sleep, can't do anything.. The only that will help is getting into the bath... Urinary frequency, Urinary hesitancy, sometimes taking a few minutes to get just a little bit out.. Sometimes lower back pain when I lay down at night.. Never have the golf ball feeling everybody talks about, and never have a problem sitting down.. Helps: Hot baths, Xanax (but makes me extremely tired), stretching (it seems like only sometimes), pain killers (ex: Percocet, but if I take them, they end up making me worse the next days following, probably due to the urinary retention they cause).. Makes worse: Stress is the main main thing, caffeine and spicy foods too, but not really a whole whole lot.. only a moderate amount..

yes, just as much as the pain. read "A headache in the pelvis" if you haven't already, especially the success stories in the book. one of the fellows only had frequency and the physical therapy plus relaxation helped him overcome the frequency. often times pelvic pain starts with frequency only, then moves into pain. get some pt now and integrate some of the methods in AHIP and you might prevent any significant pelvic pain from ever developing.

My frequency dropped dramatically after my first PT appt. The PT mobilized something around my bladder externally. She said that my bladder movement was restricted.

I still have some frequency sometimes but it is more due to muscle pain/spasm in the area and not bladder related.

Not all will have the same experience but it is definitely worth a trip to the PT.
Age: 45 Onset: 43. | Symptoms: Tightness, spasms, burning and pain in the perineum. Occassional mild pain after urination in the perineum. Helped by: Cardura, quitting caffiene, relaxation, fiber, stand up workstation and some PT a year ago. Makes Worse: ANXIETY, ULTRAM, going to work, sitting or squatting too long, constipation (big problems), stress, and sometimes unexplainable.

Abdominal muscles may play a part in your case. Make sure you do self-massage of your abdominals often. That will probably help. Also, if all you have is urinary frequency and some bladder pain, make sure you look into other causes for your condition, as that pain alone can be caused by many other things besides CPPS.
This is NOT medical advice. I am NOT a doctor.

Treating a specific triggerpoint probably reduced my frequency symptoms by 70%.
