I have booked myself in for BNI early december. My URO said that during the time I am waiting my wife and I could try for our next child. He said its better this way rather than going thru all the hoops doing it the hard way in case I get retro. Alpha blockers have kicked in again and seem to be ...

Well, I have decided I will book myself in for a BNI. I am seeing the URO in two days time and I will talk options with him, not that are any options left. Xray Urodynamics from a year ago show bladder neck obstruction. The Flomaxtra's effectiveness that I am on is very sporadic. When it works I ...

I take my Flomax just before going to sleep. It takes time for the body to absorb it. It has maximum effect 4 hrs later. If I need to ejaculate, I do it right after taking the Flomax. I don't have a problem ejaculating when doing this although it is not 100% intense as it would be with no alpha ...

Drinking beer makes me go to the toilet very soon after and if I keep drinking it I am in and out of the toilet all night long. The next day I pay the price big time and have to wait at least two days for it to settle down.

That's great news, sleeper.

I was told that there is 15% chance for retro and that it is not an indication of unsuccessful surgery.

Keep us informed on how things go.

Any suggestions from guys who have had similar symptoms?

Trigger point release is the main thing that helps here. Generally I find that when symptoms are up I massage round the bladder area, just 2 inches below the belly button and outward from this point on the left and right ...

My Urologist said that the catheter had to stay in for at least 2 weeks to prevent the bladder neck from closing up again while it heals.

There should be a 15% chance of retro.

Great to hea Sleeper. Impotence is very rare. I asked my Uro of the possibilty and he said that of all the operations he had done, which are countless, not one with impotence.

How long do you need to leave or had the catheter in?

Just get psyllium husk (thats what Metamucil is mainly made of) and sprinkle two - three teaspoons onto your breakfast cereal every morning. You should be able to find it at your local supermarket.

Thanks for the explanation Sleeper, very comprehensive. I'm not beating myself up over it, just trying to understand why.

About the impotence, I asked my Uro and he replied of all the operations that he has done, and he has done countless, the incidence is zero.

As a side note, has anyone ever ...

Thats good news that you will be covered by private health insurance Sleeper. Urodynamics will get you a clear indication on what is going on.

Sleeper, how long have you tried Flomax for? You really need to give it time, as I found out.

My prostate is perfectly normal, as determined by TRUS and ...

After visiting my Uro, he told me to continue with Flomax and leave surgery as the last option if things get worse. The flow max has finally kicked in a is working fine after a three-four month period of waxing and waning. My Uro said that the Flomax will work for about four years and after that its ...

Hi Sleeper, I can't remember because I did not take notes. I have an appointment with my Uro in about a weeks time so I'll ask him. Flomax helps but doesn't give me the full flow, but on rare occasion I get very close. I mainly get pain on the left hand side and usually feel a small knot which I ...
