Hey Scotsman - in re external TrPs

John here, from the AHIP clinic. For those of you who don't know, I used to be on this board quite a bit circa 2004-2006. You can find some of my old posts in the success stories index. I went to the AHIP clinic in June of 2004 and made a great recovery over the next few years using the protocol ...

trigger points in the anal sphincter can be excruciating...they can create all kinds of pain when palpated, like stinging and burning and throbbing; it can make you feel like you are doing something wrong, i.e., it can make you think that it is not trigger points you are pressing on.
in my own ...

this is a fascinating thread because it is so honest, and the key to overcoming this condition is being honest with yourself, even if that means admitting your mortality and that there are more sustainable ways to live life. long term trigger point treatment and maintenance is absolutely crucial to ...

you can't ignore the adductors

I just want to encourage you guys out there that are really into using the Theracane and getting after your trigger points. You simply cannot have a fully released pelvic floor if your adductor/inner thigh muscles remain tight and knotted with trigger points. Especially if you have rectal pain ...

on a scale of 1 to 10, in spring of 2004 my pain and fear was off the charts. as bad as you can possibly imagine. In one year and three months, I am down to a .3, if I had to put a number on it. 90 percent of the time I have no symptoms at all. When I do have symptoms, it's really not pain as just a ...

I will jump in here because I have been doing paradoxical relaxation for over a year now and some days up to two hours of meditation/paradoxical relaxation and have been studying different names for and facets of meditation for over a year. For the record, I have been to Dr. Wise's clinic and ...

dr. wise has an essay on anal fissures and hemmoroids at pelvicpainhelp.com and I believe it's in the new AHIP book also. he describes them as other manifestations of a headache in the pelvis and suggests a modified Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol for their treatment.

Since I've had several injection/dry needling treatments, I'll jump in here in response to Webslave and Treynor. When the doctor uses lidocaine to help with soreness, it's usually referred to as an injection; when they don't use any anesthetic, they use a smaller, acupuncture type needle and then it ...

I agree. I have an extremely high right hip that causes pelvic misalignment, and I'm certain it contributed to overcompensation by certain pelvic muscles. I'm doing chiropractic work along with trigger point work.

i use "toxins" loosely, not like I'm a doctor. if you read claire davies book or dr. janet travell's Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction, you'll understand that when a muscle contracts, natural chemicals flow in and out of the myofascial tissue. when the tissue is knotted, i.e., a trigger point forms or ...

I, too, have had a lot of experience with trigger point injections, and it is very effective. My glutes and adductors were so knotted up that the injections were the only things that would loosen things up enough for my myotherapist to be able to do effective massage. During the course of my ...

that's great, flipsta, I'm glad you're doing better and know that you've got control of things. I have to suggest, however, that without some physical therapy, you may not be able to get 100 percent, or as I'm trying to do, even better than you were before.
i suggest trying to contact some female ...

yes, just as much as the pain. read "A headache in the pelvis" if you haven't already, especially the success stories in the book. one of the fellows only had frequency and the physical therapy plus relaxation helped him overcome the frequency. often times pelvic pain starts with frequency only ...

Right on, Webslave. All it takes is to have one personal experience with trigger point release, and one is immediately converted. Janet Travell was a genius. I'm convinced that when the mainstream medical world accepts and embraces trigger point therapy, the pain industry will be changed forever ...

yes, just another symptom. i've had this since 2001, and urethral itching has been a mainstay from the beginning. hard to believe that itching can be a referred sensation from muscle tissue, but it's true. my itching is completely gone from therapy.
